We realize how lucky we are to be in this land of opportunity where every child has
the right and means to get an education. However, it saddens us to think of how many
children still do not have such opportunities back home in India. There are so many
intelligent children whose families cannot afford to pay for their education, cannot afford to
provide them with books or proper clothing, and some who cannot even afford to give their
children proper food. This may sound like stories that ones grandparents would say about
how they used to walk 10 miles to school everyday with only one pair of clothing per year
and no shoes on their feet. However, this is not just a story. This is something that still
goes on today and that which is reality for hundreds of thousands of families in India.
Families just need a small stepping-stone to bring themselves out of poverty. For this
reason, this charity will aim to help finance the education of intelligent students who
otherwise would not be able to afford the costs of going to school or college. One may
wonder how helping one student will help the entire family. But just imagine - that one
educated person can find a good, stable job which probably pays five times more than what
that entire family makes and he or she can then help to support their family and in the future,
help even more people. With a proper education as a foundation, an individual can do most
anything with his or her life. An education will open doors to better jobs which in turn can
mean a better home and proper food.
Our charity seeks to not only help individuals now but to help them so that they can
help themselves and others in the future. This can only be done with the help of donations
from kindhearted people who understand that nothing can be started and accomplished in life
without the help of someone else first.
